Espresso Martini

This is our take on the coffee classic, with a coconut twist.

espresso martini

Ingredients

Method

  1. Chill a martini glass by filling it with ice water or placing it in the freezer for a few minutes. This keeps your cocktail perfectly cold.
  2. Brew 50ml of fresh espresso coffee and let it cool slightly. Warm espresso can melt the ice too quickly, diluting the drink.
  3. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes and add the Patrón XO Café, vodka, coconut syrup, and cooled espresso.
  4. Seal the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds. This step is crucial for creating the creamy, frothy layer on top of your martini.
  5. Empty the ice water from the chilled martini glass if using.
  6. Double strain the cocktail through a fine-mesh sieve into the martini glass to remove any ice shards, ensuring a smooth, velvety finish.
  7. Float three coffee beans on top for a classic touch, or sprinkle a light dusting of cocoa powder for added flair.

Old Fashioned in The Glasshouse Bar

Ingredients

Method

  1. Prepare the Earl Grey syrup
    • Brew 1 cup (240ml) of strong Earl Grey tea. Use 2 tea bags or 2 teaspoons of loose leaf tea for a robust flavour.
    • While the tea is hot, stir in 1 cup (200g) of granulated sugar until fully dissolved.
    • Let the mixture cool, then strain into a clean bottle or jar and refrigerate. It will keep for up to two weeks.
  2. Fill a tumbler with ice.
  3. Add the bourbon, Earl Grey syrup, Angostura and orange zest.
  4. Stir gently to mix and chill the drink.
  5. To garnish, twist a piece of orange peel over the drink to release its oils, then drop it into the glass.
