To celebrate the launch of our new Sleep & Spa Retreat and partnership with global beauty brand, slip®, we've shared our top tips for the perfect night's sleep.
A third of our life is spent in bed, making pillowcases an essential part of our daily beauty routine.
Slip pillowcases are made from slipsilk™ – 100% pure mulberry silk that is specially commissioned and has been developed and refined over ten years to provide the ultimate combination of shine, thickness, softness and durability.
Slip pillowcases are designed to keep your products on your face and not on your pillowcase*, are dermatologist recommended†. In addition, in laboratory testing, slipsilk™ pillowcases were shown to absorb significantly less face cream than cotton pillowcases*, so they can help keep your skin’s moisture and valuable face and hair products where they belong, on your face and hair. Slipsilk™ was also shown to create 43% less friction on average*, which can reduce stretching and tugging on delicate facial skin.
*In laboratory testing, slipsilk™ pillowcases were shown to absorb significantly less face cream than widely available cotton pillowcases with 220–360 thread count.
† Based on a survey of dermatologists in the United States conducted in April 2023.
Prepare your body for rest with our Bamford B Silent Ritual. This full body treatment is included in our new Sleep & Spa Retreat and is a great way to relax muscles and calm your mind. Designed to aid sleep, the ritual features a therapeutic back massage, shiatsu, stretching, a neck and chest massage plus an Indian head massage to finish.
It is no secret that humans thrive off routine, and this shouldn’t be limited to during the day alone. When you’re struggling to achieve a restful night, it’s a good idea to look at your evening routine. The first thing to do is to establish how many hours of sleep you’d like to get, and for most adults, it is suggested between 7-9 hours per night. You can then start to build your evening routine and decide what time you want to be in bed for. For the hours leading up to your chosen bedtime, make them as relaxing as possible. Reading, journaling, meditation and listening to music are all great ways to prepare the mind and body for a peaceful night’s sleep.
If you enjoy a glass of wine in the evening after a stressful day at work, that’s fine, but perhaps refrain from drinking too late. Experts recommend avoiding alcohol and caffeine at least three hours before you’re due to sleep as it will keep your mind awake and make drifting off a tricky task. There are plenty of alternatives which can be just as tasty, and ultimately, you’ll be getting a better night’s sleep!
Give your body the time to digest your evening meal and avoid eating a large dinner 2-3 hours before bed. Allow your stomach to settle before you sink into the pillows and you should notice that your sleep becomes less disturbed.
This is one detail that a lot of people tend to overlook, but it plays a crucial role in the quality of our sleep at night. To feel well-rested in the morning, make sure that your bedroom environment is suitable for sleep. This can be achieved by ensuring that the room is dark and quiet, and removing any unnecessary clutter from the floor and furniture. Aromatherapy can help soothe the mind and body, so why not spray a lavender spay around the room and on your pillow?
For the ultimate night’s sleep, book our brand-new Sleep & Spa Retreat. Prepare yourself for rest with an 80-minute massage, indulge in dinner at a restaurant of your choice, then hunker down under the covers with your very own slipsilk™ eye mask for the best sleep of your life. Plus you’ll have £75 to spend however you want around the hotel!
