If someone’s unsure what kind of massage they need, what should they tell you?

If they’re unsure I would always ask what kind of pressure they like, how they would want to feel afterwards, and what are their areas of focus.

What should i wear (or not wear) during my treatment?

If they’re a day spa guest, hotel resident or member I recommend changing into a robe and swimwear. If they’re having a massage preferably a two piece as a swimsuit can be tight around the waist when pulled down. If they’re a local guest I recommend wearing something light and comfortable that’s easy to remove. We do offer disposable underwear to every guest should they require it. Ideally, all jewellery should be removed before a treatment and I recommend keeping a hair tie with them just in case.

What’s one thing spa therapists wish every guest knew?

Arriving early before your treatment to enjoy the facilities makes the biggest difference as rushing in stressed makes it harder for your body to relax. Give yourself at least 15 minutes beforehand to unwind and get the full benefit.

Is it ok to fall asleep during a massage?

Absolutely! It’s the biggest compliment a therapist can receive if their guest falls asleep. It’s a sign that you are fully relaxed and are responding positively to the treatment.

What’s one thing guests can do at home to extend the benefits of their spa day/treatment?

Invest in at least one product that has been used in their treatment. For a massage, it could be their chosen oil or muscle balm to help ease tension. For a facial, it could be a product that will enhance their results or address a skin concern they may have.

How long should i wait before having another treatment?

As a general rule, we recommend a massage and/or facial once a month however this is all dependant on your needs and may require more frequent visits.

Which products or techniques do therapists actually use on themselves?

We are very fortunate to be able to train regularly in new treatments so we are usually given products from the brand to try and also get to experience the treatments for ourselves. We love the Bamford Pillow Mist for a restful nights sleep or Natura Bisse Cryo Gel when our muscles are feeling tight.

What treatments would you recommend if i’m feeling stressed, tired or low on energy?

I’d recommend the Signature Massage and the Hot & Cold Stone Massage. The Signature Massage will leave you feeling rejuvenated. The combination of the Hot & Cold stones will leave you refreshed and revived.
