Cinnamon roll pancakes

Soft, fluffy and swirled with warming spice, these cinnamon roll pancakes bring together the comfort of a classic bake with the indulgence of a weekend brunch. Finished with a silky glaze and just the right balance of sweetness, they’re a delicious twist on a much-loved favourite by Hannah Wilson, our Apprentice Pastry Chef.

Off the Menu: John Van Niekerk, Head Chef at The Stables

Each month at The Grove, we catch up with one of our culinary stars to talk through their top food essentials, favourite things to eat, and the unexpected bites that spark inspiration. This month, we sat down with John Van Niekerk to discuss all things festive, from his favourite seasonal spice to guilty pleasure.

creamy tomato soup recipe

There’s nothing quite like a bowl of creamy tomato and basil soup to bring comfort on a chilly day. Sweet carrots, fragrant basil, and a hint of chilli blend with rich tomatoes and a splash of cream to create a velvety, flavour-packed dish. Served with crusty bread or crunchy croutons, it’s simple, nourishing, and always a crowd-pleaser - whether you’re making it for a quick family supper or a big batch to tuck away in the freezer.

Madhu’s Masala Lamb

This rich lamb curry is slow-cooked with layers of flavour that build from the very start — caramelised onions, ginger, garlic and warming spices. The meat is coated in a thick, fragrant sauce that deepens as it simmers, leaving the lamb tender and full of warmth. Finished with a scatter of fresh coriander, it’s the kind of dish best enjoyed gathered round the table with chapatis or a bowl of pilau rice, perfect for sharing on a Sunday or whenever comfort is needed.

Mini pumpkin pie

There’s nothing quite like the mix of pumpkin and spice to bring a bit of warmth and comfort. These little tartlets have a crisp pastry base and a smooth, custardy filling flavoured with cream, nutmeg and cinnamon. They bake gently until they just hold together with a soft wobble in the middle, then are best served with a spoonful of thick cream on top. Simple, cosy and just right for sharing.

Gingerbread Recipe

Nothing beats the delicious aroma of gingerbread at this time of year, and for many, making gingerbread has become a favoured festive tradition. To celebrate our gingerbread-house-making workshops with Jo Malone London throughout December, our Executive Pastry Chef, Ryan, has shared the secrets to his own gingerbread recipe.

Jemima’s Kitchen Garden: What’s Growing?

In its second year, Jemima’s Kitchen Garden has expanded, supporting wildlife and growing wildflowers, medicinal plants, herbs, and produce. Before summer, we spoke with Abby Evans, our Walled Garden Supervisor, about what's growing and how the chefs will use the fresh produce.
