The Glasshouse
Lauren: I am one of the senior event planning managers, so my day-to-day has me arranging the likes of menu tastings, meeting clients and strengthening our relationship with them, checking function sheets and ensuring Banquet Event Orders are sent out to the wider team.
Ellie: My role is similar to Lauren’s. I will show clients our event spaces and join them for menu tastings. I also meet with our suppliers to discuss how we can improve our guest experience.
Lauren: We held the NATO summit in 2019. The planning stage took four months and it was a bit of a challenge because of the event’s high profile nature and the security involved – a fence was built around the entire hotel and special buildings were erected in the Walled Garden with corridors leading back to the main hotel – but it was a great experience. It was all hands on deck with no request left unanswered.
Ellie: I look after the planning stages for a lot of our sporting clients and international sporting teams. We work closely in the lead up to their stays including building training centres on-site for them to use ahead of their matches. We are unique in our facilities as we have a football pitch here onsite which can be marked up and used for various sports such as football, rugby or American football. Serving lunch to dignitaries such as Donald Trump during NATO was also something I won’t ever forget.
Laser Clay Shooting with KDM Events
Ellie: All of our spaces are flexible and can be moulded to suit any need. As well as the spaces indoors, which benefit from great natural light, we have ample room outside across our 300 acres. We have a great onsite activities centre where we offer archery, laser clay shooting and axe throwing, along with our woodland walks and cycle routes. We also work with several external activities providers such as GOTO events who can provide packages for corporate clients looking to do something a bit more creative.
Lauren: We have a lot of repeat clients which is really nice. It shows that the planning process we have in place works well and that clients are pleased with the events that we put together for them, so much so that they return again and again. We’re also just a 20-minute train journey from London Euston which is ideal for many clients.
Lauren: The Library is my favourite spot. I love the interior design and there is just so much to look at in there. Books, board games and beautiful views!
Ellie: I like The Glasshouse bar. It’s always buzzing with activity. The Lounges are a great spot to relax too, particularly when our harpist is playing.

More From Meet the team
As the reinvention of The Glasshouse nears completion, we had a chance to interview Leonie Bos, who created the fabulous illustration of the new conservatory extension! Read her stories about times such as living in a cold squat in Amsterdam, dressing her new-born baby in a ski suit! Thankfully, today’s a different story and we wish her so much success in her work.
The re-creation of The Glasshouse is nearly complete – we can almost hear the drum roll! We caught up with the interior designer behind it all, Martin Hulbert, who gave us some fascinating insights into how his vision for The Glasshouse came together.
At The Grove we understand how important it is to create a very special celebration for your child at this significant time in his or her life. To help, here are the questions that most families ask us when they start planning a Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah.
