Course Maintenance Notice

Due to Course Maintenance taking place from Monday 25 – Thursday 28 July 2022, any bookings made for Friday 29 July – Sunday 7 August 2022 will receive a complimentary round to come back and play the course again between 1 October 2022 and 30 April 2023

At The Grove we are extremely proud that our course is widely recognized as being of a high standard and fantastic conditioning with superb greens. To ensure that the beautiful condition of our playing surfaces continue for many years to come, the majority of our playing surfaces on the golf course require an intensive annual renovation. This means a variety of essential cultural practices will be carried out which include scarification, hollow coring and top dressing.  This main renovation process to the greens is called hollow coring.  It consists of punching metal spikes into the greens, tees and pulling out many cores out of the turf. This will help to break up the dense thick layer of dead matter (technical term – THATCH). It also allows air to get down in the turf via the hole produced.  An organic amendment (Seaweed/Kelp) is then applied; this is to increase soil life, which helps to break down the thatch layer that has built up.  Sand is then applied via a machine and brushed into the holes, this helps to work into the growing layer and break up the bio mass, an approximate total of 900 tons of sand will be applied. We then roll the greens to restore all surface levels. Should you have any question’s regarding any of the work taking place over this time, please contact a member of our professional team on 01923 294 266.
