The Formal Gardens

Located just beyond The Glasshouse terrace, our formal gardens are brimming with life, from the herbaceous borders to perfectly manicured hedges. The artwork lined paths will lead you to the iconic ornamental canal, overlooking our golf course and breathtaking Hertfordshire countryside. Not only home to ducks, butterflies and our honey bees, if you look up into the trees, you may catch a glimpse of our resident little owl.

The Walled Garden

Hidden behind grand gates, our enchanting Walled Garden is a popular area for guests during the spring and summer months. With an outdoor pool, urban beach, volleyball and tennis courts, croquet lawn and Potting Shed, it makes for the perfect spot to while away the afternoon or spend a balmy summer afternoon.

The Woodland Trails

To allow visitors to enjoy the natural beauty surrounding the Grove, the Wildlife Trust has created our very own nature trail. The trail takes guests through Heath Wood, an ancient broad-leaved woodland. Walkers can meander through the dappled sunlight of the wood where the oak, beech and ash trees are home to nuthatches, woodpeckers and tree creepers. In spring there are carpets of bluebells and the wood is alive with the cheerful song of blackcaps and chiffchaffs.

Wildlife Trust Events

The Trust has partnered with The Grove on a number of exclusive wildlife events. These events allow attendees to experience the magic of local wildlife, in a luxury setting. There are tours of The Grove gardens with afternoon tea, a wildlife walk and picnic and even gin tasting with local Puddingstone Gin, the Trust’s gin partner.
