What to expect at The Grove this Christmas

24 November 2021 / Lifestyle /

With the big day only a few weeks away, take a sneak peek behind the scenes at The Grove and see how the team has been preparing for a Christmas like no other…

Upon arrival, step into the lobby and feel the crisp winter air instantly melt away. Gazing around, notice the show-stopping festive displays, all carefully designed and arranged by the team at McQueens Flowers. This year, we’ve taken a step away from a traditional theme, in favour of sustainability – championing the bounty of nature. This was an idea that our Head Gardener, Tash, dreamt up many months ago. Since then, our teams have worked together with McQueens – the first florist in the world to be awarded a Positive Luxury Butterfly award – to bring this theme to life.  Botanicals, soft textiles and reused materials have been assembled to mirror the flora and fauna within the 300-acre estate. Weaved throughout each room will be glistening displays made from foraged pine cones and intricate paper ornaments, sprinkled with some Christmas magic. Elsewhere,  you’ll discover a pop of bright, bold colour, again thanks to Mother Nature. We hope you’ll agree that minimising waste and prioritising natural materials certainly doesn’t minimise the impact.  For more inspiration, take a look at our blog post on upcycling decorations and how to go about creating a sustainable festive tablescape.

From the Lounges to Sequoia spa, Christmas can be anticipated with every step taken around the hotel. In The Stables and at The Glasshouse, indulgent Christmas Day breakfast and lunch  have been crafted to include festive classics such as a whole roasted bronze turkey and warm mince pies. If you fancy a Yuletide tipple, we recommend the Logfire Mule – the perfect accompaniment for those cosy fireside conversations. Another exciting addition for Christmas is our Chef’s Fire Pit which will be taking place daily over the festive season, offering s’mores and warming baps. For little ones, The Fairground Sweetshop will open its doors in the Activity Centre to provide an assortment of sweet treats including toffee apples and candyfloss.

Over at Sequoia spa, the team have been busy preparing and perfecting their latest dreamy experience, the Jewels of Nature Christmas Treatment. Designed to quieten the busy mind and relieve physical tension, the treatment includes a sensorial visualisation, a foot and lower leg exfoliation, a hot stone massage, a facial cleanse and massage, and a shoulder, neck and scalp massage followed by a soothing pot of tea. A full 75 minutes of pure bliss, this is the perfect way to destress and get ready for the big day…

For the little ones, our activities team have put together a whole roster of exciting things to get involved with. On Christmas Eve, some very special reindeer will be paying a visit, and Father Christmas and his elves will be ready to welcome little ones to Santa’s Grotto with presents galore. In our Activity Centre, there will be Christmas arts and crafts and indoor laser clay pigeon shooting, but if you fancy something a bit more relaxed, head over to Dasher’s Den where there will be plenty of festive films and games to entertain throughout the day.
