Five reasons to take an Autumn break at our luxury country hotel

Autumn is a great time for a UK getaway. The countryside turns to striking shades of orange and gold, the darker evenings lend themselves to snuggling up with a hot chocolate, and dinnertime is all about hearty soups and stews.
In the wake of the hottest UK summer of all time, it can be easy start missing the warm weather. But we think autumn is a wonderful time, and here’s why…
1. Woodland walks
There are few things more satisfying than feeling the autumn leaves crunch under your feet. As the countryside becomes adorned with shades of orange, gold and red, it’s a great time to wrap up warm, take in the fresh air and enjoy the great outdoors. Guests at The Grove have access to our very own nature trail, which was created by the Wildlife Trust and takes visitors through Heath Wood, an ancient broad-leaved woodland.
2. Autumn events
Autumn is full of celebrations – whether it’s playing spooky dress-up for Halloween, marvelling over fireworks on Bonfire Night, or feasting in the name of Thanksgiving. We have so much going on here at The Grove in October and November – keep an eye on our events calendar so you don’t miss out! Click here to view our October half term activity guide
3. A roaring fire
Is there anything cosier than snuggling up in front of a fire with a good book and a hot chocolate? The chilly weather is the perfect excuse to hunker down and enjoy the warmth of the indoors, particularly if you’re returning from a bracing walk. If you’re staying with us, be sure to head to The Lounges where the fires will be lit and ready to welcome you.
4. Time for hearty dishes
With autumn comes wholesome, warming meals that are a delight for the tastebuds – think soups, stews, risottos, crumbles and pies. With the change in season, we’ll be mixing up our menus in The Stables and The Glasshouse to reflect the new season, using the very best produce that autumn has to offer. Sit back, relax, and indulge in the seasonal flavours.
5. Take a spa break
If you prefer to stay indoors as the temperature drops, then there’s no better place to be than a spa. Wrap up in a sumptuous robe, hit the sauna, and be transported to paradise with a relaxing massage. What’s more – on 23 November 2018, Sequoia spa will be holding its Christmas Shopping Day, where you can enjoy a beauty bar and purchase some of the latest products from ESPA and Natura Bissé.
