Enjoy all the festive trimmings at our restaurants this December
14 November 2019 / Lifestyle / Food and Drink /
With Christmas around the corner, our very able chefs have given their menus a seasonal makeover with a selection of delicious dishes to warm the cockles. Over the years, The Glasshouse and The Stables have become increasingly popular with the locals (this is something we’re incredibly proud of); perhaps never more so than over Christmas.
We cater for groups large and small, from near and far, from corporate parties to family feasts, whether you’re staying at the hotel or simply coming for dinner. So whatever the occasion, prepare for a celebration of exquisite festive food at one of the regions most celebrated country hotels.
A theatrical festive feast
From 1 December, The Glasshouse will be offering ‘all the trimmings’ as part of a veritable festive spread. Our Succulent turkeys have been brined and marinated ready to tantalise your taste buds; they’ll be served with homemade stuffing, sprouts with chestnuts, dripping potatoes, 24-hour braised red cabbage, our very own honey-roasted carrots and parsnips, and of course Cranberry sauce. We can’t wait.
Our vegetarian and vegan offering is equally as mouthwatering. Try our vegan sweet potato and lentil pies, crispy roast potatoes, a fantastic winter slaw bound with vegan mayonnaise, or our quite delectable vegetarian roast celeriac salad with blue cheese, cinnamon honey and lavender dressing.
Or, how about saffron risotto with slow cooked beef cheek, hay-smoked venison, pork belly, winter sage apples and pears, or sea bass marinated in porcini and garden thyme.
A healthy portion of Christmas pudding should round things off nicely.Book a Table
A hearty festive menu at The Stables
At The Stables, we’re constantly tinkering with the classics. Where possible our ingredients are locally sourced – much of our fruit and veg is grown within our kitchen garden – but since it’s Christmas we’ll make the odd exception… because you don’t get much better than Shetland salmon.
To start we’re serving a lovely, earthy, soup with home-grown vegetables; delicious buffalo mozzarella with baked beets and walnuts; a wholesome superfood salad; and since it’s Christmas, a classic prawn cocktail.
As ever, mains will be rich and hearty. We’ve got a risotto of chestnut mushrooms with tarragon and almond milk (a sumptuous vegetarian option); a wonderful grilled salmon escalope with lentils and rainbow chard; bangers and mash with a difference – wild boar and apple sausage with smoked garlic mash; and of course the good old turkey dinner, only this time with fondant potato and pancetta-wrapped stuffing.
And to finish off, choose from traditional Christmas pudding, a clementine Bahibe chocolate roulade and a selection of ice creams.Book a Table
Afternoon Tea Time
In The Lounges, we’ve even given our Afternoon Tea a festive twist. Look out for our yule logs, coffee and mascarpone snowballs, mince pies, and one or two other Christmas-inspired nibbles.
