5 top tips for enjoying your spa break

National Spa Week is coming up soon and its mission is to let people know how beneficial spa breaks are for helping to improve physical and mental wellbeing. At Sequoia we take this to the max. Our whole ethos is to ensure you leave feeling the way you tell us you want to feel when you arrive. So your Spa Break or Spa Day starts with a consultation when you first arrive Sequoia. We’ll discuss how you are, how you feel and what your needs are. We’ll then recommend the most effective and suitable ways to achieve what you want…

Your leisure time is precious and we want to help you enjoy every moment. So before you arrive at Sequoia, take a look at our top tips for making the most of your retreat.

1. Give yourselves time

These days, for most of us, relaxation is all about slowing down and taking time. Talk with your friends or partner before you come about what you all want to do to avoid anyone feeling rushed or disappointed. If you’re coming for a spa break arrive early from 12 noon, enjoy the facilities and take time to relax and slow down before your treatment, so you get the most from it. You could go for a woodland stroll, enjoy lunch in the Juice Bar, change and enjoy a swim, sauna and the relaxation room before you have your treatment. Even better, book your treatment for the following morning. Ask for breakfast in bed and stay in your robe to come to Sequoia for your treatment… afterwards drift back in a state of bliss.

2. Enjoy all 300 acres of our spa

When you book a break at Sequoia you’re coming to a beautiful estate, not just a spa. It’s about the whole experience of being in nature. There’s the spa terrace right outside, the Walled Garden with its beach and pool in summer months, and our whole estate year-round. Our woodland trails and meandering paths are beautiful in every season. Depending on when you visit, you could borrow a bike, have a run, speed-walk or enjoy a Segway experience. Even walking in the winter can be fun and really beneficial for your health. Bring the right footwear and prepare to explore!

3. Pack your gym stuff just in case

Experts say that when you exercise continually for 30 minutes – enough to raise your heart rate for that time – it creates endorphins. These reduce stress and make you feel great. So when you’re here, a workout might be just what you feel like, or Pilates, Yoga or any other of our daily Studio classes, which are all complimentary when you’re staying with us.

4. Use our experts

Our beauty therapists and gym staff aren’t the only experts on hand. When you’re staying over, you’re welcome to take advantage of the complimentary expert consultations for body composition, body analysis and flexibility measurements. So you can scientifically pinpoint exactly which parts of your body needs some extra attention and care. There’s also a nutritional consultant, personal trainers and physiotherapists on hand to offer guidance and advice.*

Naturally, following a treatment, our therapists will make recommendations for improving your health and wellbeing as well as helping to maintain the benefits of the treatment.

5. Mixed or private facilities?

Everyone’s welcome to use our 22m black mosaic swimming pool with jacuzzi and steam room, vitality pool and Pantazi relaxation room, spa terrace and Walled Garden. There are some additional facilities for women only – the private steam room, sauna and relaxation room. Some guests love to use mixed facilities and some prefer private to women, it’s entirely up to you.
